Color makes the world go around...

Where in the world would I be without friends? I know at least one place. In a house that was built in the 70's with the original wallpaper still in tact. My friends (and family) came out in full force this weekend to help paint. Big thanks to Amy for asking everyone--she knew if she left it up to my own devices she would be coming up and hanging out in the pineapple dining room a year from now. She has even been working overtime putting a fresh coat of red paint on the front door. I have the best friends in the entire world--Boadie,Scottie, Kiah, Cheryl, Kami, Mike Lawson, Jim McGill, Ju Ju, my mom, my new neighbors Jen and Todd (that's right--the new neighbors stopped by and grabbed paintbrushes--I am gonna love this neighborhood) Debbie brought food and watched kids. I even had Marleigh, Grace, Kate and Caroline doing a little . That being said....

The Sistene chapel hasn't had as many comments as the paint job of my new house. Everyone has an opinion. Whatever ever happened to the old adage if you can't say something nice..say nothing at all. I like color--yellow being my favorite--so sue me. One thing, nobody that helped paint the house had a negative word. (They probably did when I wasn't around--but that doesn't count) So THANK YOU!!!! to all my wonderful friends! I owe you big time!!

Ash Wednesday

I just got back from Ash Wednesday services at the UCM. It was such an incredible service. You guys work so hard each week to make worship a memorable experience and your devotion and dedication does not go unnoticed. Thank you so much for making it such a personal time of reflection and worship. I know how stressful it can become to make it happen--but I also know that God is faithful and it all seems to work so beautifully for His purpose in the end. Thank you.

Neiman Marcus and the friendly Mexican

I am fully prepared to embrace my dorkiness Jake--yes, I am blogging. What else am I to do when everyone is off working out (God forbid) or having their bodies scrubbed/rubbed down like the deck of an old ship. Not my style.

Today was Mexico. We went to a beach that Scottie had recommended and had a great time. We all went parasailing (except for moma Cheryl). Kelly had decided not to go because she was having some stomach issues :) We were all on the boat doing a tequila shot (once again, except for Cheryl--even when the native fellow told her it would help the baby grow big) Kiah and I were up first and handled it like pros. Amy screamed like a baby the whole time--and made the driver sign an affidavit that he would not go over 200 ft in the air--screaming as she went up "don't let Kate get her ears pierced until she's 8" After seeing all the fun, Mcgill decides 'forget the Dulcolax, I'm going up.' She was strapping on her harness and the next thing we knew, she had Charley, the friendly Mexican, hopping on with her. Charley had just explained to Amy he was looking for an American wife--next thing we know..there they go, off in the great blue yonder.

We also got souveniers while in Mexico--that you are all going to have to wait and see. (again, except moma Cheryl--which we have nicknamed Doris--LOVE YOU MOM)

S.O.S.

We are having fun. Thank goodness we found the gym right off the bat. For all of you that know me well, you know how important this was to me. We even took in a Pilates class..(we had been on the boat LITERALLY 15 minutes) Scottie don't laugh too hard...your head may explode. I bet in all three times you were on this boat last year- you didn't even know it had a gym huh? I shoulda brought you or Boggs with me.

In other news, we were 30 minutes out of Ada when Kami started throwing up. It was so beautiful to watch all of her friends come to her aid. Throw up had not even hit the ground and McGill was passing out the germ gel and we were all saying..'she's not staying in my room'
She is feeling better now, so we have let her back in the group.

*Amy has been lecturing us on the importance of 'staying regular' during trips. She claims you burp it if you don't.

*It's too cold and windy to be outside....but everyone assures us that after lunch it'll be beautiful.

*I am sleeping on a roll away bed with a 2 inch mattress...but God Bless Ambien I could have been sleeping on a bed of nails last night. Best sleep of my life. The rocking of the boat, the powerful prescription sleep nartcotics, and Amy's white noise sound machine made it all very relaxing.

OOH they just announced Jackpot Bingo--I'm off to the casino. (To pass out tracks of course)
